Dear Friends,
St. John's Lutheran School is an educational and mission arm of St. John's Lutheran Church. Its purpose is to aid parents in the obligation to bring up their children in the "training and instruction of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4), and to heed the Lord's command of making disciples of all nations.

A St. John's education will build a solid foundation for a student spiritually, academically, physically, and emotionally through daily instruction in the Word of God and other academic subjects.  For this reason our education is a Lutheran education rather than a private one.

St John's Daycare & Learning Center is open from 6 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. and provides before and after school care.  We currently provide care for children from birth through 14 years.  St John's has a Noah's Ark program for 3 year-olds on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and another sesson on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  A Preschool program for 4 year-olds has been changed to a 5-day program from 12:30-3:30 each afternoon.  A Young 5's program will begin on September 7th from 8 - 11:30 A.M. five days a week.  This program will be run much like a half day kindergarten program.  SORRY - Due to low enrollment we had to cancel the Young 5 program.

NEW NEWS!!!   As stated in the previous paragraph, WE ARE OPENING AN INFANT ROOM IN THE FALL!  We will begin accepting infants from birth to 1 year of age.  At present we are limited to 4 infants but hope to expand quickly.  All our plans for this room should be approved by Sept. 2010.  The infant room is OPEN!!!!

Feel free to visit the learning center, daycare, or any school age classroom at your convenience.  When you arrive please check in at the office and let them know which of our programs you are interested in.

What's New?

CLick on the picture of Pastor with the Pie in the Face to go to our Penny Carnival 09 scrapbook.  We had a great day.  Over $500 was raised for a number of projects at school.  Thanks to all who helped.

Soccer Team Takes Third Place

This year's Tiger Soccer Team took Third place at the WELS Soccer Tournament in September.  The Tigers played 6 hard-fought games and came out with a 3-2-1 record.  They lost to eventual Co-champions Wyoming 1, 2-1 and Wyoming 2, 1-0.

The Tigers were ed by 7th Grader Scout Peterson who had 8 goals on the day.  We look forward to meeting up with the same teams next year and winning back the cup!

H1-N1 Flu update.  Please Read Carefully.

ILLNESS: Due to H1N1 concerns this year we are following the Michigan Health Department’s recommendations concerning fevers. No one will be allowed in our facility if he/she has a fever for any reason. This includes the day care center. A child with a fever should be seen by a doctor and kept home. They will need to be fever free for 24 hours without medication before they are allowed to return. We realize the inconvenience this causes, but it is necessary for the health of everyone here at St. John’s. If H1N1 is diagnosed, your child will need medical clearance from his/her doctor before they can return to the building.

REPORT ILLNESS: The state also needs us to report all illnesses to the health department. In the past this hasn’t been a big concern with us, because we are a small facility, but now it is more important to report illnesses so the state can accurately determine the amounts and types of flu-like illness in our county. For Jan to be able to send these reports, she will need your help. It is important that you give us a call each day your child is absent because of an illness and describe the illness and/or doctor’s diagnoses. We especially need to know if a doctor diagnoses H1N1, even if it is not a severe case.
